Organizations operate in an environment that is at a constant rate of interaction with different forces affecting the way the organization develops. In the nursing field, there exist several environmental forces, including both internal and external environmental forces. Some of the forces that influence nursing leadership include political environment, politics influence development of policies which are essential in the development of healthcare organization. Organization Development in the nursing field is also highly influenced by regulatory authorities, which determine the practice standards required for various operations. Other environmental forces include technological advancements which have revolutionized the delivery of healthcare services, population changes, which have brought about new demands, for example, increase among the elderly population, and economic forces including competition from other providers and availability of the resources required for healthcare delivery and discovery of new treatments (Nilsen et al., 2020).

What are the steps successful organizations take when responding to change?

When responding to change, some of the steps that successful organizations take include defining the change and realigning its goals to ensure that the change influences the organization positively. Successful organizations assess the impacts the change will have on their operation and shift their targets and achievements. The organization also determines who has been affected by the change. The successful organization ensures that the change is communicated to its employees to increase their awareness of the situation. Other steps include providing training to help the employees adjust to change and implementing support structures to facilitate transition over the change period.
