This module deals with the anatomy and physiology of species commonly seen in veterinary practice. It is a core module for stage 1 vet nursing students.

The purpose of this module is to acquire the fundamentals of normal structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) in animals, which underpin the knowledge required by vet nurses in practice.

Overarching Content covered: the cell and subcellular structure, tissue types, introduction to the microscope, anatomical terminology, the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, the eye, and the ear, the integumentary system and the endocrine system.

The course content is delivered via lectures, weekly group project tutorials (first half of trimester), practicals, online learning and two in class discussions.
Practicals are mandatory and online pre-practical content will be provided.
Lectures and in-class discussions may be delivered as eLectures, depending on social distancing guidelines.

Assessment involves a group presentation (25%), an individual write up of the group presentation topic (15%) continuous assessment (20%), and a 1 hour short answer question/MCQ end of trimester online MCQ (40%).
