Academic Year 2021/2022
This module provides an introduction to the practical and applied aspects of veterinary anatomy through small group dissection projects aimed at relating anatomical structures to a clinical, surgical, or biological problem. It will also cover the anatomy of the structures encompassing the walls and contents of the thoracic cavity of farm animal species as well as the dog and cat. Key areas covered include: the structure and function of the thoracic skeleton, thoracic musculature, thoracic cavity and pleura, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, gastro- intestinal tract within the thoracic cavity, innervation of the thoracic cavity and the lymphatic system. (3) Describe the topographical relationships of all organs and structures comprising this region of the body. (4) Relate the above to the basic radiographic anatomy, histology and live anatomy of the region through an ability to accurately describe and identify all organs and structures and define their relationships.
