Rajamohan, Davis & Ader (2020), in their article, meant to discuss how the students and nurses can use REST mnemonic, a tool for building the resilience they may require to meet the challenges throughout their careers in nursing. The authors highlight that nursing professional’s shortage is a nationwide concern. In their article, they go on to reveal that “Approximately 40 percent of the nurses have reported burnout in the US, and the nursing burnout is as well a concern worldwide (Rajamohan, Davis & Ader 2020).” Resilience has been defined as individual’s ability to disable adverse circumstances of life with an optimistic attitude, using healthy external resources and internal coping mechanisms like supportive work environments, mindfulness stress reduction based training, and confident training for communication skills (Rajamohan, Davis & Ader 2020). As revealed in the article, the REST tool puts some strategies to practical plan nurses, and the nursing students may apply to classify protective factors. These strategies include relationships with others and self, exercise care for body, spirit, and body, Soul or empathetic emotive care, and transformative thinking leading to considerate action. According to this article, REST tool can be implemented for students and, when incorporated in the nursing curriculum, may help the students to remember essential resilience components though other resources are accessible (Rajamohan, Davis & Ader 2020). The authors conclude by revealing that developing resilience as part of the nursing plans helps the students while they face day-to-day encounters and afford the best possible care for the patients through their professions in nursing.
