Meaning of Concept of Quality
According to Butts & Rich (2019), if 20 individuals were requested to describe quality, they possibly would provide 20 different responses. This would not be amazing given that, for numerous years, even the specialists in quality improvement have varied in the conceptualization of quality and how it may be enhanced. Therefore, the concept of quality has been revealed in numerous diverse ways by Butts & Rich. For one, there’s an idea that quality is “conformance to requirements” (Butts & Rich 2019). There’s also an idea of quality that “it should be aimed at consumer needs, current, and future,” and that quality “starts with intention that is fixed by the management.”
Relation between Evidence-Based Practice and Quality Management
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is combination of clinical knowledge or expert opinion, knowledge, decision, and critical perceptive attained through individual training and specialized practices. On the other hand, quality management is an act of controlling all tasks and activities that should be achieved to uphold the anticipated excellence level. This involves the determination of the quality policy, forming and executing quality assurance and planning, and quality control and enhancement (Gunasekaran, Subramanian & Ngai 2019). The relation that can be identified between EBP and quality management is that EBP integrates the best accessible research evidence with clinical expertise in quality management and patient-based values to enhance outcomes. This process encompasses asking relevant clinical questions, finding the best evidence to answer them and using evidence to practice, and assessing evidence based on the clinical outcomes. An example can be executing new evidence-based practice guidelines towards an institution’s quality management to prevent or minimize chemotherapy extravasation for the clients receiving vesicant therapy.
