Strategic Plan: Challenges in the Organization Culture
Assess the culture of the organization for potential challenges in incorporating the nursing practice intervention. Use this assessment when creating the strategic plan.
Write a 150-250 word strategic plan defining how the nursing practice intervention will be implemented in the capstone project change proposal.

Assess the culture of the organization for potential challenges in incorporating the nursing practice intervention.
After assessing the organization’s culture, some of the major problems identified included a lack of knowledge among the nurses on how they can provide support to NICU fathers. Fathers are commonly seen as incompetent caregivers compared to mothers, especially for pre-term babies admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit, and thus nurses commonly focus on providing care education to mothers. Also, due to community stereotypes, fathers often regard themselves as not competent enough to provide care to infants in the neonatal intensive care units. The intervention for this project will involve implementing a nurse-specific educational program for the NICU fathers to change their attitudes towards the provision of care for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (Namnabati et al., 2016).
Lack of necessary knowledge among nurses on how to provide support for NICU fathers will thus be a challenge that can hinder the incorporation of the practice intervention in the organization. The stereotype by NICU fathers can also negatively affect the incorporation of the intervention, as fathers may decide not to participate in the education program which will be the intervention. Another challenge identified was few nurses in the neonatal intensive care unit. There are fewer nurses assigned to the NICU; this can affect their availability to dedicate time to interact and educate NICU fathers since they are mostly busy with other tasks. The education program can be an overload on their busy schedules, which would affect the effectiveness of the intervention program (Ashghali-Farahani et al., 2018).
