The purpose of this assignment is to articulate a connection between the Science and Technological Competence general education outcome and the content viewed or read for class
1. Scientific and Technological competence is the ability to recognize the scientific method to evaluate, analyze, and interpret data, and apply technological tools and formulate accurate conclusions;
Paper should answer the following:
1. Summary/history of the issue from the text or course discussion
2. Articulation of how the issue relates to one of the general education outcomes
3. What might we learn by connecting those issues to the chosen outcome
History of science and technological competence
Competence and outcomes are two interrelated terms whereby competency details appropriate knowledge, mastery, and habits of a student completing a certain course. On the other hand, outcomes show the student’s capability in a way that can be measured. Scientific and technological competence is essential in better education outcomes because the world is surrounded by technology and scientific advancement in all aspects (Hess et al). It is also important to help students solve science and technology problems by connecting all the analyses, evaluations, or data and coming to accurate findings. The most important aspect of education is that it enables students to think and solve problems critically. These two competencies bring accomplishment and success to students in general education and after the studies.
General education outcomes
The purpose of general education is to ensure that students are prepared to gather more knowledge expand their thinking to enable them to meet the expectations and needs of the community and acquire more capacity. in relation this, scientific and technological competencies will help in better education outcomes as it will enable students to gather more competences and ensure they can think critically and apply these to solve problems (Hartel et al). Integrating science and technology help to broaden student interest in clarifying difficult concepts by using science and technology for better outcomes. Critical thinking is important to an individual where it includes the use of available data, analyzing it, applying problem-solving skills, and making decisions based on all these.
Connecting scientific and technological competence to critical thinking
We can learn from connecting scientific and technological competencies to critical thinking to help the students use them in their workplaces. The skills learned in the classroom affect workplace learning (Elder et al). Critical thinking is needed to succeed in his career by using these skills to examine data, decipher issues, and make the necessary choices.
