Nursing Foundations
Reflect on your experience with different aspects of data management — for example, identifying the target population and relevant measures, access to data sources, strategies for data collection, coordination of data entry, analysis of outcomes, and data analysis to final deliverable to stakeholders. Discuss those areas in which you feel skilled versus those areas that will require more skill development. List at least three activities in which you might engage in your current practice setting that would increase your competencies in the area of data management and outcomes evaluation.

Nursing Foundations
Healthcare professionals are expected to possess strong knowledge and skills in data management. They must demonstrate significant competence in collecting, analyzing, and using data efficiently, securely, and cost-effectively. Data management sets a framework for optimizing data usage in the bounds of policies and regulations. It guides all clinical decisions and practices ensuring that professionals’ actions benefit the organization. This paper explores the strengths and weaknesses in data management and activities that may help in increasing data management and outcome evaluations.
Skilled Areas
I possess considerable skills in different data management areas. I am competent in identifying and selecting the target population in the data collection process. I have demonstrated a solid ability to adhere to the relevant measures in sourcing individuals for interviews. I am a strong team player with the ability to work with other staff members to access and collect data through interviews, site visits, archived information, observation, and development of case studies. I am also very keen on data entry and processing, ensuring that all collected data is entered correctly and stored securely (Adane et al., 2019). In addition, I find it easy to interpret data and refine it to increase its usefulness. This includes transforming data to personalize it towards the needs and desires of the clients.
Areas to Improve
There are different areas where I should improve my data management abilities. I find it challenging to allocate responsibilities to team members based on their competence. One of the essential parts of skillful data management is how effective team members are assigned duties based on their competence (Rosen et al., 2018). I am also dedicated to enhancing my data presentation abilities. Most of the time, I find it challenging to present the collected data using visualization tools which make it easier to communicate to the audience. I am therefore striving to learn and improve my data presentation abilities so that the target population can understand and interpret the presented data. Finally, there is the need to develop my skills in general data analysis, including studying the outcome and final deliverables to the stakeholders. Sometimes I find it challenging to select statistical and logic techniques for data analysis (Dash et al., 2019). I am therefore dedicated to improving my skills in this area so that I can effectively evaluate the raw data to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the data.
Clinical Activities to Engage in to Increase my Competence
There are different clinical activities that I can engage in to improve my skills in data management and evaluation. Volunteering in research activities will help improve my data analysis and visualization abilities. It will also help improve my proficiency in responsibility allocation since I will have an opportunity to engage with diverse team members improving my competence assessment abilities. Community engagement is another clinical activity that can help enhance my data management and outcome evaluation competencies. These activities will help in enhancing my data presentation and visualization abilities. I will have an opportunity to interact with diverse individuals, thus understanding their needs and expectation. Finally, attending the clinical workshop can equip me with substantial knowledge and skills on research, data collection, analysis, and generation of evidence based on research results. This will ensure I am informed of the current data management policies, guidelines, and regulations.
Conclusion
Healthcare organizations are finding it difficult to effectively manage their data due to increasing complexity in the healthcare system. It is, therefore, essential for healthcare professionals to recognize their strengths and weaknesses in data management. This will help streamline the data handling process in the clinical setting by creating an effective clinical data management model that thrives in the dynamic healthcare environment.
