The aim of this Module is to enable Registered General Nurses to develop foundational specialist knowledge and skills to enable them to care for patients with haematological conditions.

1. Analyse the diagnostic and treatment modalities used for the different types of non-malignant and malignant conditions experienced by Haematology patients
2. Demonstrate foundation level competence in the holistic nursing management of the patient being treated with various medications, cytotoxic chemotherapy, biologic therapies, radiotherapy and transplantations – Bone Marrow and Stem Cells
3. Interpret the psychosocial issues involved in the diagnosis of haematological conditions / haematological cancers and apply psychosocial support for patients/clients and their significant others.
4. Explore the professional, legal and ethical implications of expanding his/her role within the context of haematology nursing.
5. Critically examine the nurse’s role in providing patient education and health promotion for the hospital inpatient and ambulatory day patient
