Academic Year 2021/2022

In this module we consider the nature and processes of providing acute and continuing mental health care to specific populations for example: child and adolescent, LGBTQIA+, forensic mental health, individuals experiencing eating disorder, adults with intellectual disabilities and the older adult. In relation to forensic mental health the students will critically review the relationship between psychopathology and criminal behaviour and the opportunities and challenges of maintaining and fostering therapeutic relationships in secure environments using and integrating evidence-based interventions. A part of the module will focus on issues related to the care of people in ethnic minorities who suffer from mental illness.
