Stephen King was born in the United States on 21st October 1947. Stephen King has directed several movies and has also been a key figure as a person who has written numerous books that have been featured in movies. Some of the books that have been converted into movies were crime, horror, and supernatural books. Stephen King’s father was Donald King, working as a merchant seaman in Portland, Maine. King’s mother was Nellie Ruth, who was divorced when King was two years old. King was raised by his mother under financial strain most of his life. He had one brother with whom they were very close. At the age of 11, King’s mother moved them to Durham, where his grandparents lived. Although King was raised as a Methodist, he lost his belief in organized religion when he was a teenager. King is married to Tabitha Spruce, and they have three children together.
Some of King’s most common movies are “It,” directed in 2017, Stand by Me released in 1986, Creepshow Misery, and The Shawshank Redemption. The movies have gained a lot of acclaim in the United States and other parts of the world (Luscombe 1). The movies are a combination of horror films, drama, and action movies. Although some movies have not been very successful, most of the movies that have been directed by King have been a success. The director believes in producing movies based on what is reflected in the society either in a fictional manner or in a drama genre.
Stephen King has won numerous awards during his career. Some of the words that the director and author have achieved include world fantasy awards and Edgar award for the best novel in 2015. He has also won the Alex Award, Bram Stroker award, and Hugo award (Lowry 1). The awards were given to the director based on his books and his works as a movie director. The awards were given to the director at different times from the 1960s to 2000 s. The awards are competitive, and the author has been given the awards because of the ingenious work that he has been able to do in his artistic work.
My opinion on the director’s work varies depending on the kind of movie that he has produced over the years. However, one of the most critical aspects of the director’s work is the ability to infuse the art with the lives of people in the United States (Luscombe). It is easy to relate to the director’s work because the movies he directed follow a traditional production industry pattern. However, there are instances that some movies have become too fictional and have attracted a small number of people interested in such films. Such movies are however few and do not represent the work that has been done by King.
Two of King’s movies that will be analyzed in this essay are “stand by me” and “creepshow” The sound and music from both movies have been selected so that they can give a certain feeling to the plot of the movie. The cinematography has not been rushed, and King has been keen on ensuring the quality is excellent. Additionally, the producer has been able to introduce special camera work in his two films. Special effects such as stunts have also been included in the films to make them more entertaining.
