Therapeutic Communication with the Angry Patient.
The patient is a 45 year old male recently diagnosed with liver cancer in the terminal stage. The patient lost 35 pounds before seeking medical care. He served in the Army in Iraq, and returned to being a US civilian one year ago. He has a wife and 3 children, ages 7, 8 and 9 years old. He and his wife are experiencing marital strain, financial hardship, and now the diagnosis of terminal liver cancer. The patient was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The patient is very angry that he served his country, and is now experiencing such hardship with his health, finances, and his marriage.
