Read the Berwick article and reflect on the concepts and practices you have learned in NR506 on healthcare systems, politics, and health policy. Reflections should include:
How to make informed decisions on nursing practice and patient outcomes on a global basis. In addition, state how you will apply what you have learned in this course to your upcoming practicum experience.
Describe how one will apply content from NR506NP to the upcoming clinical courses.

Global Policy Reform
The healthcare sector is currently more diversified than ever before. Global policy is now gaining popularity, with healthcare professionals working collaboratively at the international levels to initiate new policies, processes, and agendas that improve care quality. Policymakers are dedicated to reforming the global policies by introducing achievable health policies that will reduce the cost of care while increasing its access. This paper reflects on healthcare systems, politics, and health policy based on the learned concepts.
Making Informed Decisions
To make informed decisions on nursing practice and patient outcomes, nurses should use the most recent evidence-based practices. This is achieved by actively engaging in research, continuous education, attending global conferences, and being conversant with policy reforms. Nursing decisions should focus on patients, families, groups, and communities (Berwick et al., 2018). The caring process should espouse transparency between the inter-disciplinary team. Nurses can also make an informed decision on nursing practice and patient outcomes by first understanding the patient’s status. This requires the nurse to invest time through physical presence and develop a long-lasting relationship with the patient to support their decision-making (Nibbelink & Brewer, 2018). The nurse will develop a higher level of more holistic decisions based on the patient response to the caring plan.
Applying the Learning Concepts in the Upcoming Practicum Experience
I intend to apply the knowledge gained from the learning concepts as the basis for guiding my nursing actions and practices. These concepts will form the framework for guiding my clinical decisions, advocating for patient needs, and participating in the policy development process (Hajizadeh et al., 2021). I am dedicated to being at the forefront in intervening for the quality of care that is rooted in evidence. These concepts will form the framework for providing patient-centered care by treating each patient uniquely. Also, the learning material and concepts have significantly changed my understanding and perspective of care. I am now aware that care delivery is guided by different principles and policies, which I will consider in my future practicum experience.
Applying the Content to the Upcoming Clinical Courses
One can use the content learned from NR506NP as the basis for guiding nursing practices and reforms. This content will be influential in guiding one’s arguments and reflections on the role of nurses in healthcare reforms and policy development. Also, NR506NP content can be applied to strengthen students’ discussions on the responsibility of the nurses in advocating for their rights and those of the patients. In addition, these learned concepts can form the basis for further research and studying on how nurses can effectively adopt the global policies to advance patient care by safeguarding the needs and integrity of the patients.
Conclusion
Nurses play a critical role in policy reforms, development, and advocacy for patients’ needs. Nurses use the available evidence and policies to make an informed decision on their practices and patient outcome. They must work collaboratively with patients, families, groups, and communities to optimize the quality of care. Nurses should therefore familiarize themselves with the current trends in healthcare. They must actively engage in continuous education and attend conferences to ensure that they are informed on the expected caring standards. This will create a healthcare system that benefits the patient and provider.
