A tool of interest is the ‘Age-Friendly Health Systems: The 4Ms’ that was presented by Terry Fulmer and Amy Berman of The John A. Hartford Foundation, and Kedar Mate and Leslie Pelton of The Institute for Healthcare Improvement. The tool is published in issue £35 of the General Assessment Series. Try This® series tools are screening tools that are not intended for use in diagnostic purposes. This presents two potential limitations. Firstly, the values they present as indicators of health are not based on validated processes thus implying that they may not accurately reflect the health status of an older adult patient. Their results must be supported by validated diagnostic tools. Secondly, the tools have low sensitivities and are generalized.
