BMOL40150 Career Development Scientists
Academic Year 2021/2022
The Professional Career Development module has been designed to give students a competitive advantage in the market place and has been developed with the input of graduate students, academic entrepreneurs, graduate recruiters, and business leaders. The module will be delivered over Spring and Summer trimesters to enable students to maximise potential opportunities presented by the labour market. The graduate jobs market is extremely competitive and therefore prospective applicants need to be aware of the skills that employers are looking for, and be confident that you are in a very good position of providing evidence of these during the recruitment process.
Regular guidance, job search and interview skills support with UCD Careers Office and the College of Science will take place throughout the academic year. There will be invited lectures from various academic entrepreneurs, and business leaders.
Due to latest developments in a specific research filed, some of the existing research methods and techniques need to be revaluated. To address these issue students will be shown several research techniques for laboratory analysis. The results of this analysis can then be evaulated to a scientific audience by presenting a poster. This will give students opportunity to discuss their findings which would be helpful for developing leadership skills and presentation skills.
