Module 1 Overview
Why is research really necessary? What’s the point? It’s so difficult to read.
This week you will examine why research is important in nursing. You will also begin to explore the world of evidence-based practice and how you can use it to change practice. I urge you to keep an open mind over the next 8 weeks. You may actually find that you like research.
After completing this module, you will be able to:
Analyze the history of nursing research and its impact on the nursing profession.
Compare nursing research with evidence-based practice.
Analyze a nursing problem or issue related to your current practice that you will investigate for the course.
Reading & Resources
Read Chapters 1-2 In Polit, D.B., & Beck, C.T. (2016). Nursing research: Generating and assessing evidence for nursing research (10th ed). Philadelphia: Lippincott, Williams, & Wilkins.
