As a mental health professional, I will research to make mental health care more accessible, high-quality, and cost-effective. This will enhance clinical practice, patient outcomes, and patient safety. To implement significant change, each individual must appreciate new methods of functioning. To achieve the aim of a changed health care system, strong leadership will be necessary. Achieving high-quality and inexpensive mental health care will need transforming leadership.

In the future of mental health care, patients are supposed to participate in the design of their treatment. As a result, they will be given various options that can empower and inspire them. Patients in an inpatient facility should choose from a variety of groups rather than being confined to a single one. In today’s healthcare environment, patients expect safe, effective, and high-quality care within minimal time (Phoenix, 2019). The realization of this vision will be impossible without streamlining the process. Nursing informatics will develop systems that will allow nurses to assess quickly and effectively to provide safe and quality care.

The healthcare system is transforming rapidly. As a result, advanced nurses need to comprehend change management methods to adapt to the fast-changing healthcare system. The first strategy is communication. This means keeping lines of communication open and explaining why and how the change will work in practice (Rosenbaum, More, & Steane, 2018). However, it is essential to understand the change roadmap. This will assist in comprehending the organization’s existing situation and how the change would affect healthcare. But it is necessary to realize the necessity for training. If the change involves new technology or procedures, giving proper training will help adapt.
Leadership Qualities Necessary for Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Mental health providers have the potential to lead individuals as well as steer their therapies. This not only involves empowering but also a tremendous duty. As a result, crucial leadership traits are necessary. The first quality is confidence as the patients rely on provider sureness. Confidence not only maintains the friendship and trust but also makes the patient feel comfortable in their progress. However, adaptability qualities are essential in order to adjust when things do not go as intended. In addition, mental health care demands an insatiable desire to better the research and practices of the area. Qualities I Currently Possess and those Qualities I will Need to Develop
I possess several qualities for my chosen role. First and foremost, I empathize with my patients. A skilled nurse possesses the capacity to empathize with each patient and make an honest effort to put themselves in their shoes. In addition, I also have good observational skills, which help identify significant mental health signs. As a result of my strong interpersonal abilities, I am able to conduct thorough assessments of my patients. However, I also need to improve on interaction and critical thinking skills. To be a successful mental health nurse practitioner, I must focus on my interpersonal skills. In order to incorporate patient subjective and objective information into professional therapy, critical thinking is required.
A Plan to Expand My Leadership Toolbox
Understanding myself and where I stand professionally is the first step in growing my leadership toolkit. My strengths, limitations, and work habits will be assessed as part of this process. The next stage is to identify realistic objectives that I can achieve. To achieve them, I will gather ideas on how to attain them. Thirdly, I intend to take part in leadership development programs. This will necessitate attendance at training sessions and conferences geared at leadership. Finally, I will start connecting with other leaders. With the help of like-minded peers, I will be able to put the information I have received into practice, as well as get feedback on my progress.
How I will Develop My Leadership Skills for Future Needs and Challenges
My plans to develop leadership skills for future challenges and needs include keeping learning about leadership either through training or connecting with leaders. In addition, I will also find a mentor who will help me acquire the skills required in leadership. However, I will also take leadership and management courses. This will help me build the qualities of a good leader. Furthermore, I will also analyze my skills so that I can set goals to attain. However, I will also be following the traits and characteristics of my exemplary leaders in order to learn from them.
The provision of healthcare services in the future will be dependent on the presence of advanced nursing jobs. Mental health professionals should do research to improve access, quality, and cost-effectiveness of mental health care. Currently, healthcare is undergoing a fast transformation.
