As an advanced registered nurse, my aspiration is to become a nurse educator, an individual who students enrolled in formal academic nursing education programs. In fact, it is defined as an advanced practice role and specialty area that exists within professional nursing. The scope of practice for nurse educators is defined by the presented factors. The first factor is qualification. The qualifications for being a nurse educator is to meet the faculty requirements are presented by each educational institution based on their expectations, accrediting organizations and regulatory agencies. NLN is perhaps the oldest premier organization for nurse educators that is focused on realizing excellence in nursing through offering its members testing services, research grants, teaching resources and professional development. Also, NLN offers credentialing services for nurse educators (National League of Nursing, 2019). AACN is a national body that represents academic nursing through promoting public support for professional nursing practice, research and education, improving health care by influencing nursing profession, establishing quality standards for nurse education, and aiding schools in implementing the standards (American Association for Colleges of Nursing, 2019). OADN is the national voice for associate degree nursing (ADN) that is responsible for promoting the future of ADN, strengthening the professional role of ADN, and enhancing the quality of ADN education. Also, OADN promotes academic progression, partnering with other nursing organizations to offer an arena for networking, disseminating information, and facilitating the unity of the nursing profession (Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, 2019).

Of the three organization, NLN is the most influential organization. Founded in 1893 as the first nursing organization in the USA, its mission is to promote nursing education excellence through building a diverse and strong workforce that advances health in the national and global arena. Unlike AACN and OADN whose activities are restricted to the national boundaries, NLN has national and global reach that embodies the concept of diversity. Membership in NLN includes interested members of the public, health care agencies, education agencies and nurse educators. In fact, the membership includes 1,200 institutional members and 37,000 institutional members. All members have access to public policy initiatives, nursing research grants, testing and assessment, networking opportunities, and development programs that allow the members to grow and develop as professionals. Over the course of its long history, the NLN has been repeatedly renewed to remain relevant in delivering expanded, enhanced and improved services while championing the pursuit of quality nursing education (National League of Nursing, 2019). The NLN aligns with my personal worldview and philosophy of care through embodying the reality that there is always room for improvement. Through gaining membership to NLN, I am assured to engaging a diverse pool of talent as members of the organization who would challenge me to improve my practice while offering me opportunities for improvement through research and education, and access to current evidence.
