Providing healthcare which is grounded in research evidence is widely recognised as a key skill for all healthcare professionals and policy makers. In order to facilitate the movement of research evidence into healthcare policy and practice, it is necessary to build students’ capacity to engage with health research and foster their critical appraisal skills in relation to the evidence which underpins best practice and policy.
